Brazilian company FGM Dental Products, known for its extensive line of dental bleaching agents and composites, gathered over 2,000 professionals in Latin America for a three-month long series of educational lectures called the "FGM Latin American Tour."

The tour started in March in Duitama, Colombia where FGM offered lectures by Dr. Ricardo Ortiz (Colombia). In April, also in Colombia, lectures by professor Americo Mendes (Brazil) in Cali and Bogota attracted a large audience. Just in Cali over 600 dentists attended, breaking records for this kind of company-sponsored conferences.

The FGM Latin American Tour continued in May in Guatemala, where FGM's distributor in this country, IMFOSHA, opened one the most advanced showrooms in Latin America. Over 200 people attended the conferences in Guatemala.

At this event Brazilian expert Dr. Leonardo Muniz offered lectures on cosmetic dentistry and presented his new book entitled "Cosmetic rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth" (Santos Eds.), which has been very successful in Brazil and is now being released in Spanish as well. The book offers a practical way the treat complex issues in cosmetic dentistry such as the need to restore endodontically treated teeth, a common occurrence in the dental office.

The Brazilian expert demonstrated the versatility and effectiveness of different FGM products he has been researching and working with for years. He offered advice on the use of the dental whitening Whiteness, which has 80% of the Brazilian market and a large and growing size of the market in many other Latin American countries.

The Whiteness Perfect gel for instance, which comes in 10%, 16% and 22% concentrations of carbamide peroxide and contains sodium fluoride and potassium nitrate as desensitizing agents, is suitable for home use under professional supervision. This allows the dentist to supervise a safe and effective procedure for at-home patient use with the Whiteness Perfect kit.

Dr. Leonardo Muniz also showed the advantages of the Opallis+ composite, which is indicated for a large range of diverse cosmetic needs, from simple cases to the most complex.

The Opallis+ allows dentists to perform successful restorations, in addition to offering high mechanical strength, shine and texture very similar to the natural tooth, as well as aesthetic stability for a long period of time. Opallis is indicated for restoring decayed teeth, replacing preexisting fillings, restoring fractured teeth, and for restauration of teeth with abnormal shape, position or structural defects.

The FGM Latin American Tour continued in several cities of Peru, such as Lima, Arequipa and Trujillo, where over 500 dentists attended the events. In Paraguay about 300 professionals attended the lectures by Dr. Muniz, while in Honduras about 130 people were in attendance and in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic over 200 dentists participated in this much anticipated educational tour.

FGM Export Manager Alexandre Hashimoto said the FGM Latin American Tour was a total success, showing the large interest of dentists in clinical lectures and high-quality products that place scientific rigor above all other considerations.
