MEXICO CITY — The third day of the Mexican dental expo AMIC Dental and of the and UNAM International Congress combined important conferences by international and Mexican lecturers, as well as a large display of high-quality products.

The Mexican National University (UNAM) featured speakers such as Fotinos Panagakos (USA), who lectured on the treatment of dental hipersensitiviy, Violet Haraszthy (USA, who talked about the association between periodontal disease and systemic diseases, or Shannon E. Mills, who yesterday spoke about the potential danger of water as a contaminant in the dental chair, and today lectured on infection control and patient safety. March Lietchung (USA), spoke on the restorative process using "Snap on Smile."

Other speakers to this well attended sessions were well-known experts such as Jorge Alejandro Neira Vázquez (Colombia), who lectured on Implantology from A-Z;" Adalsa Hernández, (Venezuela), who about the use of imaging in diagnosing ATM arthropathy, Adolfo Pérez Brignani (Uruguay), who talked about treatment of facial pain and ATM or Daniel Stern, who gave a lecture on practice management.

Organizers are expecting a total of 7,000 attendees to the three-day long UNAM Congress.

AMIC Dental Expo
Downstairs, the AMIC Dental expo offered a larga array of new products as well as bargains for dental chairs, 3D scanners and cone beam tomographers, as well as classes in many of the large booths here at Mexico City's World Trade Center.

Foreign companies were in full force either directly or through distributors. Among them were Ultradent, KaVo, Sirona, FGM, Ivoclar or W&H. One of the new participants was the Finland-based manufacturer of dental instruments LM Instruments.

Export Manager Maria Ala-Sulkava explained that the great advantage of their instruments is that they are color-coded, which facilitates locating, using them and ordering for both the dentists and his or her assistant.

Their distributor in Mexico and other countries Diego Pérez Manauta added that they are made of silicone and provide excellent ergonomics, which saves effort from the dentist and helps to avoid professionals from suffering from carpal tunnel.

Made of high-quality Finish metal called Dura Gray, the instruments are finished and polished by hand, providing a very ergonomic, strong and resilient dental instrument.

Ala-Sulkava added that the concept behind LM Instruments is to offer the most beneficial instruments to the dental professional in order to avoid the most common health occurrences such as fatigue produced by the long use of non-ergonomic instruments.
