NEW YORK — The Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM), the largest conference and exhibition in the United States, attracted a large Hispanic participation, including presidents of Latin American dental associations and Spanish commercial companies.

A gala dinner at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square was the first official act of this large congress, whose scale can be gathered by the fact that in 2010 there were 1500 Technical Exhibits which demonstrated the newest technology, and total attendance reached 58,000 health care professionals.

In this 87th edition at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center GNYDM offers two simultaneous surgical theaters, full-day seminars, half-day seminars, essays, hands-on workshops, glass-enclosed and Live Patient Demonstration Area that is sure to fascinate even the most discriminating dentist.

In addition, organizers have included this year three parallel congresses and expos, each lasting four days:

SomnoMed Sleep and Appliance Expo. The Greater New York Dental Meeting welcomes the partnership with SomnoMed and looks forward to their unique 4 day SomnoMed Academy Sleep and Appliance Expo at the 2011 GNYDM. To view a full description of the courses.
Botox and Dermal Fillers. Learn how to incorporate Botox and Dermal Fillers in your practice. Workshops are presented everyday.

Invisalign Expo. 4 Days of Invisalign Programming for the entire dental team. Learn about the latest innovations that can help you grow your practice with Invisalign. To View full course descriptions.

The scientific congress, which began on Wednesday and last a full week, offer programs in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. The Spanish-langauge program lasts four days and offers lectures by Latin America and Spainish opinion leaders.

Continuing Education
In addition, Dental Tribune presents at GNYDM three days of free lectures of its Dental Tribune Study Club Symposia (DTSC), which are live, recorded and then posted on the internet.

These are ADA-CERP continuing education lectures that attendees can take live and online. At the GNYDM, the DT Study Club offers a total of 24 CE hours. DTI’s Spanish-language portal at www.dtstudyclubspanish.com will soon offer another series of lectures by Latin America experts.

Among the speakers participating in this educational DT Study Club symposia are opinion leaders in various fields of dentistry. Howard Glazer will give a lecture on the new giomers (composite materials plus glass), Marty Jablow will discuss Advances in Self-Adhesive Technlogy and How To Incorporate Them Into Your Restorative Practice, Stanley Malamed will talk about Local Anesthetic Performance, Ron Kaminer on Minimally Invasive Implant Dentistry for the General Practitioner, David Hoexter on the new instruments to preserve bone during extractions and Pedro Lazaro Calvo about clinical decisions in implant aesthetics.

The lecture by Dr. Lazaro Calvo has been sponsored by the Spanish implants company Klockner, which is participating at this New York exhibition for the first time with a large stand. Klockner was also present at the recent congress of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) in Las Vegas, as part of its strategy to work in the U.S. market. This publisher will shortly publish an article on this company, which manufactures high-quality implants based on years of research and studies, and is now also reaching Latin American countries.
