SANTIAGO DE CHILE - The eighth edition of Salon Dental de Chile began with the opening of the international trade fair and the scientific congress in Espacio Riesco of this city, events that far exceeded those of previous years.

The Salon's director, Michael Weschler said that there were 125 participating companies at the event, which included for the first time companies from Korea and China interested in introducing their products in the Latin America market at this 2011 fair that covers 9.500 m2.

"Chile is the gateway to Latin America because it is a stable country and does not impose unnecessary restrictions on imports," said Weschler. "We have companies from Argentina, Brazil, Spain and the German Pavilion has confirmed its participation with some 30 stands in 2012, 2014 and 2016."

High-level conferences
Weschler added that internationally recognized speakers will give lectures, such as Sergio Cacciacane (Spain) who will conduct a live videoconference with Dr. Jaime Lozada from Loma Linda University in California, Dr Luciano Artioli (Brazil), who has coordinated the participation of the large contingent of Brazilian speakers or Carlos Giménez (Chile), a well-known dental implants specialist.

The director of the Salon said that the Chile has changed dramatically and is no longer isolated but it is now an important part of the global market in Latin America. "The union is growing and we are very happy," he said.

For his part, Dr. Cacciacane appreciated the efforts made by the Salon Dental and explained that the videoconference with Dr. Lozada will take place on Thursday at 6:30 pm "and it will be very important for all dentists and will for present clinical case discussions between the speaker in U.S. and dentists in Chile."

Cacciacane said he was impressed with the Salon, that it's larger than expos in many other countries.

Dr. Artioli concurred in praising Salon Dental organization, which he described as "a privileged place in Chile that allows academics to bring high-level scientific lectures and at the same time it's an expo involving all the major companies," besides being a event of professional camaraderie.

The specialist said he feels good in Santiago because Chilean dentists are highly trained and because they show a great interest in scientific conferences.

FDI World Congress
Dr. Víctor Guerrero, director of the organizing committee of the FDI World Congress, came to the Salon to promote this great event to be held September 14 to 17 in Mexico.

Guerro has made an extensive tour of Europe and America America to gather in Mexico to 40,000 dentists for four days at the Centro Banamex, where the FDI congress will take place.

"With the support of FDI and the Mexican Dental Industry and Trade Association (AMIC), we'll have over 100 simultaneous speakers in 10 auditoriums," said Guerrero. Furthermore, it will be "the largest trade show ever held in Mexico, which will occupy 12.000 m2, and which is already 90% sold."

This great world congress will present pavilions of Germany Italy and many other countries.

The presence of these renowned international specialists is an eloquent example of the high level reached by Salon Dental de Chile, where total attendance is expected to exceed 10,000 people.
